Excellent mix of flavors. Good service but be prepared to spend two hours for dinner.
MoreThe best ceviche in the bay area ππ
Of the five or six Peruvian places I've tried in the Bay Area, this is far and away the best.
MoreVery friendly staff with a well presented restaurant. My issue would be the price. I'm not opposed to paying high prices for food but it has to be justified and this was not. It was good food but not nearly $40 a plate food. And worse than that, after 2 plates at high prices I was still hungry and had to go get more food else where. I'm a skinny guy with a slow metabolism so I shouldn't be leaving hungry after 2 plates. Other than the price it is a nice place.
MoreReally good food and outstanding service. Place is a little small. So much so that a table for two basically becomes a table for four if someone sits down at the table next to yours. External restroom, not in the restaurant and likely shared with other businesses in the immediate area.
MoreVery small. And very, very good!Am unusual menu. And unusually great service.Spectacular food. And great recommendations from neighborly diners, enhanced by the close proximity! You'll feel like you've known them for years!Go! You'll leave with new friends!
MoreThe food is absolutely fantastic! Carlos and crew do an incredible job. I can't recommend it highly enough. And, while I don't live in the area, I will definitely plan to return next chance I get.
MoreSimple menu with elegant choices. Every cevieche and main dish our group had was 5 star. Our Tuesday night dinner had the bonus of live Peruvian style music. Great food, fantastic ambience and service. Wonderful way to have dinner with friends.
MoreWe were in town visiting family for the holidays. This was our final dinner and it could have not been better. Delicious food, high quality, authentic, just perfect!
MoreCebiche is extremely good, lomo saltado really good, very nice presentation, and the bistec a lo pobre so good
MoreIts decent, but the ceviche portions are small for the price. They need to have more seafood especially a saltado pescado.
MoreVery epic. The food tastes amazing and the service is great. It's amazing what comes from a small shack of a restaurant. I'm saying that in a good way.
MoreUnique delicious cuisine
The chefs, the staff and of course the food! Amazing Peruvian food! The ceviche trio and the lomo saltado were delicious!
MoreMay you find a place like this once in your life. I have been here 6 times in the 6 years that it has been open. The owner chef greets me each time as if I was there the day before. Remembers who I was last here with and treats me as if I come all the time. Spectacular
MoreUnbelievably delicious cebiche! Each of the three plates I had last night was quite distinct and all were amazing. Will definitely come back!
MoreAfter moving out of San Francisco it has been hard to find a Peruvian restaurant in the east bay, after eating here we have found our goto place. And its probably one of the best restaurants we've eaten at. Coming back real soon.
MoreThis is not a cheap place to eat, nor is it fast, but it is worth every penny and every minute spent. The food is authentic and delicious while the service is remarkable. The owner, Carlos, is very friendly and involved in service, attending to the needs of every customer as promptly as he can. The chefs in the back, who you can clearly see prepare your food work with a passion and finesse that is encouraging to see as a customer in a chef. Itβs a cozy little place that I find myself returning to every once and a while when they rotate the menu.
MoreAmazing atmosphere and food! It's a very small place (maybe 8 tables & a few seats at the bar) so reservations are recommended. The cebiches are to die for. I've had the fish of the day cebiche and mixto and both were soooo good I could eat them all day every day. Their other plates are also amazing but the cebiches are the star for sure. They also have a nice wine selection and even some craft beers from Peru. It's one of the best restaurants in Rockridge for sure!!
MoreGreat restaurant!!! Went there with a group of six and sampled many dishes. All were excellent. Highly recommend.
MoreFood is so fresh! And the people are super nice and fun!
Absolutely fresh and tasty food! We didn't expect such a surprise. Seafood and raw fish are so impressive.
MoreThe dish presentation is wonderful ..The space is very limited , but the food is tasty good and make up for it !
MoreAmazing! The chef's recommendation for the order of your ceviches is superb and trust worthy. My heart was on my sleeve with every bite, it was so good. I recommend the tradito de calle capon and the trucha ceviches. The moasico ceviche was very good too, but the long outer pieces of fish wrapped around the outside to create the "dome" shape it's presented in are better off diced like the other pieces. The soy-sesame-lime sauce in the calle capon is amazing. The Next up, peruvian mains-- can't wait to try the chita frita con picante de mariscos and the lomo saltado... And also would like to try one of their flambeed dishes or the blow torched pork.. because... Fire... FIRE! hehe heh
MoreThe food tastes great. It is a little expensive but worth it especially if you want to try something new.
MoreThis place has the best Peruvian food I've ever tasted! The restaurant is small which allows the chef to give personalized service to each table. My wife and I sat at the bar which gave us the chance to watch the chef cook and elaborate on the impressive ceviche sampler he prepared for us. Highly recommended!
MoreThe first time I went it was delicious, completely worth the price. I have gone there 2 extra times during the last year, they made their plates smaller and the last time I went the shrimp in my cooked seafood plate was a bit raw and cold which ended up ruining my experience (I don't remember the name of the plate but it was $30 and I think it deserved more care)The service is nice and the ceviches are delicious! Try the ceviche mixto! If you go I recommend ordering the lomo saltado. You won't regret it!Overall it came put to $100 for 2 people, 2 non alcoholic drinks, 1 shared ceviche and 2 main plates.
MoreMy favorite Peruvian restaurant. The flavors are so exquisite, and the attention to quality is stinky superb. My Peruvian family was also quite impressed! Love. Love. Love.
MoreThere isnβt a better place to get Peruvian food in the bay are PERIOD! If you havenβt been youβre missing out.
MoreWas my first time going to Pucquio, every bite was delicious, well-prepared and perfectly seasoned food. The Chef takes great pride and care to make each dish special. We went three days in arrow for dinner and we couldn't get enough, at Pucquio I had the best Peruvian food I've ever taste. Our servers were very knowledgeable about everything on the menu including gluten free options, every dish was met with oohs and aaahs! service was outstanding,We definitely will go there again, we highly recommend it.
MoreFavorite restaurant in the Bay Area, hands down! Cozy setting, extremely friendly staff (and owner), no table turning rush. Amazing Peruvian ceviches and other authentic Peruvian dishes. Must haves are the Lomo Saltado (Pucquio style), grilled octopus, and one or two of the ceviches with aji limo, rocoto, or aji amarillo (local Peruvian peppers.) Also recommend sitting at the chef's bar and feeling like you're a guest in someone's home.
MoreWow, just wow. Best Peruvian food in the Bay.
Amazing food in an unassuming space. Carlos the owner and chef is great. Service is attentive yet not intrusive. Flavors were phenomenal. Highly recommend this spot.
MoreGreat place. Good ceviche, and delicious lomo saltado. Great service and drinks.
Having just spent almost 3 weeks in Peru (where 95% of the food was exceptional, no matter the price) we tried to have positive experience on the Valentine day. Made a reservation, arrived on time, but we were only seated 25 minutes later. The place is small so we had to wait outside in 50 degrees cold. 5 course dinner (at $150 a plate, not including the drinks) was nothing special in terms of creativity nor execution (with duck being the only exception). Waiters were nice, but would not come back.
MoreExcellent Peruvian food
Canβt say enough good things about this place. The best Peruvian weβve had outside of Peru. The ceviche is top quality and the flavors are so unique, the lomo saltado is always delicious, and the service is so friendly. Itβs a cute and cozy restaurant on College, donβt miss it! Thank you Carlos for a delicious meal every single time!
MoreWe've been twice and have had an incredible experience both times. Fantastic food, friendly service, knowledgeable staff, and great ambience.
MoreGreat place. Chose it just from reviews alone when my brother was visiting. Run by a nice group of folks, mostly family. Food was spectacular.
Moremmmmmm.....mmm..ππππππππππππππππππππππππππ can be improved by not ignored us!!!!! I hate people so arrogant!!!I guess some people need open MINDED to judge you appearance I hate to WRITTEN special if we eat our food!!!Adobe al chancho...the atmosphere today was okservice need to improve but a lot!!! I don't have to dress up ..
MoreSmall footprint but great personal attention.
Really fantastic, creative, seasonal menus. If you sit at the bar, you can watch the chefs in action while enjoying some warm-up snacks. We often think of corn as bland because it's been so stripped down and industrialized, but corn with true heart is alive and well here. I never thought I would enjoy a seafood dish where I have to pick apart the shells, but the shrimp bisque-like dish on rice was unbeatable.
MoreAbsolutely great display of authentic peruvian dishes with a modern and elegant take. Authentic and flavorful cheviche, perfectly grilled octopus and tacu tacu is a must. Generous portions with great presentation even when taking out! Support our local business and order take out too!
MoreWhat a fabulous restaurant! The cebiches are unbeatable and the small space creates an exciting, yet intimate experience. Food is amazingly flavorful and is plated with care and attention to detail. A very friendly owner and staff are a big bonus. I love this place!!
MoreThis has been a go-to takeout spot in the past few months. The ceviches are great and lomo saltado or adobo de chancho are favorites.
MoreBest Peruvian food in the bay area
Delicious food and a fantastic server who explained every option to us and did not steer us wrong! Seems like a family operation that really cares about its business and the quality of every ingredient. Don't let the low key atmosphere fool you - this is a hidden gem!
MoreLittle gem in Oakland. Carlos is a fantastic host and the food is delicious. It's a little but pricy but the taste and vibe is so warm, cozy. Wines are good too.
MoreThe food served at Pucquio goes beyond the typical Peruvian you might expect. It is truly gourmet food, fresh, well chosen ingredients and a delicious seasoning to boot. Truly exquisite food and excellent service.
